The Queen street mission Sunday School had a good corps of teachers present and the usual attendance of scholars.
The Alms House meeting had a smaller attendance of workers and congregation than usual, owing to the weather. The exercises were well sustained and were profitable.
The Jail committee reports a full band of workers present and the usual interest in the exercises.
The four o'clock prayer meeting in the Methodist Episcopal Church South was an excellent one. A goodly number were present, who were impressed with the earnest and well-timed remarks of the speakers. (This meeting will be held Sunday in the Second Presbyterian Church.)

Yesterday was Advent Sunday, the beginning of the ecclesiastical year, and services appropriate to the day were said in the Catholic and Protestant Episcopal churches. Rev. Dr. Mitchell preached in the Second Presbyterian Church and Elder Purrington in the Primitive Baptist Church, and Rev. Father Fitzpatrick in St. Mary's Church. With these exceptions the pulpits of the city were occupied by the resident clergy. In the Baptist Church four persons were baptized at night.
