MASS. AVE. BAPTIST CHURCH
Rev. G. N. Williams, Pastor

To a very large congregation last Sunday, both morning and evening, the pastor delivered fitting and stirring messages in keeping with the season. His New Year's sermon was very inspiring indeed, and uplifting in these times. Mrs. Gatherwright, the organist, had arranged appropriate selections and music, and the choir rendered fine selections. The Flower Committee supplied the flowers for the pulpit. Church School convened directly after morning service, and everyone is asked to be on hand to begin anew on the first Sunday of the new year. The members of the BYPU congregated at 6:30 in the vestry of the church in order to join the other members of the BYPU's in a fine program at Shiloh Baptist Church, West Medford. We are happy that such a large representation was made from Mass. Ave.

The shut-in members of the church were visited by the pastor, and all are reported improving, and ask your continued prayers.

Watch-night Service was very largely attended; the Deacons were in charge until 11:45 p.m., at which time the service was turned over to the pastor. Many whom we had not seen for a year or more were in our midst to join in prayers and songs in ushering the new year in.

We are extending you an invitation of welcome to be with us on Friday evenings at prayer service. We begin promptly at 8 o'clock.

Order of services for Sunday, Jan. 5, 1941: 10:45 a.m. Morning worship—Sermon by the Pastor and Communion; 12:45 p.m.—Church School Session; 6:30 p.m.—B.Y.P.U. Session; 6:45 p.m.—Evening worship—Sermon by the pastor.

We are expecting well attended services all day on the second Sunday in January when our pastor will deliver his farewell sermon. He has served the church successfully for three years adding new life, making many improvements, and increasing its membership and finances to a high degree. As he goes on his evangelistic journey, we pray him God-speed.
