$18,000 PAID FOR LEG LOSS

LOS ANGELES, March 30. - "I was going to be married, but, of course, that is all off now."

Minus one leg Donald Rex Everts 31, had ended his testimony in superior court

He was handed $18,000 by his attorney, Bingham Gray, in settlement of a claim for personal injuries against the Los Angeles Street Railway Company.

It was an abrupt close to three days of evidence presented by Gray when he announced a satisfactory settlement had been made with his client. Judge Walter Desmond thereupon dismissed the action.

Just before the Christmas holidays, Everts explained, he attempted to board a one-man street car: it jerked ahead, he slipped from the steps to beneath the car and one leg was run over and crushed so it had to be amputated.
