Full Text

Liberation of Ireland. -The New York Express mentions a rumor, but places very little reliance on it, that the Irish exiles in that city have had a secret conference lately, at which they resolved to organize a central directory, (with subordinate societies co-operating in other portions of the Union,) for the purpose of turning the approaching European war to account, for Irish Independence. Measures were adopted, which if carried out, are likely to give Great Britain employment for the soldiers nearer home than Turkey. Ireland is to be the scene of operations. Further, the "sinews" are to come from the funds that were subscribed for Ireland in 1848, some $40,000 in all. Also that a distinguished editor-an Irish exile-is the head of the movement—and that another distinguished exile-now in California-has gone thither expressly to arrange matters, with a view to further the purpose in view.
