It is stated in the Louisville Journal, that Mr. John C. Rives of the Washington Globe, had written to Messrs. Boyd and Murray, the two administration candidates for Congress in the lower Congressional district of Kentucky making an appointment to meet them at Morganfield, Union county, about the middle of the present month with the view to the making of arrangements for the retirement of one of them from the canvass.

The Journal further states that John C. Rives did meet Boyd and Murray at the appointed place and time The three were together at Morganfield and at the close of their interview, the ambassador of the Government hastened back to Washington, passing through Louisville on the 19th inst.

What may have been the nature of his arrangements with the candidates does not appear. The terms of the bargain will probably transpire after the election.—N. Y. Cour.
