On closing the poll, the votes were declared as follows, viz.
Messrs. David Tilden 890, Samuel Brown, 892, Russel Sturgis, 892 Samuel Clap, 896, Dr. Nathan Trowbridge 877, Abiel Smith 1971, colonel Robert Gardner 844.
Messrs. H. G. Otis 1119, Jonathan Hunnewell 1136, William Smith, 1128, Dr. William Spooner 1095. John Welles 1117, William Sullivan 1105.
These gentlemen formed the federal ticket, and are elected. A. Smith Esq. was on both tickets. The whole number of votes 1976. Necessary to make a choice. 989. We congratulate the republicans, that the majority of federalism is so greatly decreased in Boston.
