Schools Of Rural Area Suspended Buses Are Unable To Get Through on Account of Snow

Schools were closed throughout Vance county today, and some in Henderson were crippled, although all were in operation, as a result of the nearly six-inch snow of Saturday night. Highways were so clogged and so slippery that school buses were unable to run, and Superintendent E. M. Rolbns said today that he ordered uniform suspensions on Sunday. The suspension is for at least two days, and present plans are for resumption of class work Wednesday morning.

White and colored schools throughout the county were idle, and the city Henderson Institute, which draws its student body largely from the rural areas, was likewise in suspension. All city white schools and Central grade school, colored, were operated, but with heavy dents in attendance for the day.

This is the first time in some two or three years that schools have been forced to suspend on account of weather conditions.
