COLUMBUS. O.-(ANP)-America can lead a great hand in the restoration of confidence and faith among individuals and nations, but it must not be done through intimidation by force, Dr. William J. Faulkner, Nashville. said Monday night in a Religion-In-Life week address at Ohio State University.
At the second mass meeting of the university's six-day series of religious conferences, Dr. Faulkner told his audience that youth can be "new world citizens who will chart bridges of understanding and fellowship over the superficial differences of religion, color, speech and culture, which stand so tragically between many fine people in our generation."
"It is imperative that these man-made boundaries which breed bitterness, hates, wars be removed once and forever," he said.
CAN REMOVE MOUNTAINS "With faith in God, man can remove mountains of differences and cast them into the sea of false mythology.
"But daring youth must also build upon the wisdom and experience of the past," he added. "It is better to cut off and prune out the dead branches of the tree of society to make it bear good fruit, than it is to destroy the system root and branch."
Dr. Faulkner, who is dean of the chapel at Fisk, said that the world is in desperate need of social and spiritual engineers to repair and restore "bridges and highways of goodwill and understanding destroyed by the recent World War."
