A young man, of good appearance, well educated, and of very respectable connexions, (name not given) has been convicted at Albany of grand larceny. It appeared, that early in June, "whilst passing up or down the river on board one of the steam-boats, he was tempted to take from the pocket of a fellow passenger, his pocket-book, from which he took more than $300. He was soon detected and committed. It was the first offence. He pleaded guilty on his arraignment, and entered the same plea in court. He was sentenced to five years imprisonment at hard labor in the state prison.
