The same Day the Right Hon. the Lord Carterlough, in the Kingdom of Ireland, took his Seat and the Oaths in the House of Peers, in the Room of his Brother, deceased, as Earl of Westmorland.
As did also the Earl of Broadalbine, as one of the Sixteen Peers, to represent the Peerage of Scotland in Parliament, in the Room of the Earl of Balcarres, deceased.
Likewise the Right Rev. Dr. Maddox, as Bishop of St. Asaph, in the Room of Dr. Tanner, deceased.
As also the Earl of Darnley, in the Kingdom of Ireland, as Baron of Clifton, in Right of his Mother, Daughter of the late Earl of Clarendon.

By commission under the Great Seal signed by his Majesty, directed to the Lord Chancellor, the Earl of Wilmington, President of the Council, and others, the Commissioners read his Majesty's Speech. The Commons were sent for and returned to proceed on business. Several peers took their seats: Lord Carterlough as Earl of Westmorland in place of his deceased brother; Earl of Broadalbine as one of the Sixteen Peers for Scotland in place of deceased Earl of Balcarres; Dr. Maddox as Bishop of St. Asaph in place of deceased Dr. Tanner; Earl of Darnley as Baron of Clifton in right of his mother, daughter of the late Earl of Clarendon.
