Dispensing with the Naturalization Law
—On the motion of Mr. Williams, Assembly
bill, to authorize Adolphus D. Grimwood to
practice law in the Courts of this State, was
taken up and passed. As this is a rather unusual proceeding, I give a few lines to it.—
Mr. Grimwood is an Italian by birth, the son
of highly respectable English parents. The
object of the bill is to enable him to practice
law in this State, without being obliged to
wait for five years, till he becomes naturalized. Mr. Grimwood has been in the State
since boyhood, completed his education in
Santa Clara College, and studied law under
F. M. & H. H. Haight, of San Francisco. He
is a young gentleman of pleasing manners,
superior abilities and excellent character, and
will, doubtless, prove himself a worthy recipient of the privilege extended to him by
the Legislature to practice the profession he
has chosen for his future career through life.
