CITY AFFAIRS.

Fire. A fire broke out Wednesday night, between the hours of 10 and 11 o'clock, in a store on the northern side of Main street, between 9th and 10th streets, occupied by Henry Ahner & Co., as a fancy goods depot. The fire, which originated under the counter, had obtained considerable headway before it was discovered, hence the larger portion of the contents of the store was destroyed--a couple of show cases filled with goods, constituting the only portion saved. The tenement belongs to Mr. Thomas Ritchie, and is insured we learn in the Mutual office. There exists an insurance on the stock of Ahner & Co, to the extent of $800, in the Richmond Fire Association.
