I LOVE THEE STILL.

BY AMANDA.

Forget me if thou wilt, crush every hope,
Crush ev'ry tender blossom of my youth;
Crush ev'ry leaf, whose beauty once was wrought
By thee, in wreathes to crown a love of truth.

Freeze tears of love by looks unkind and chill,
They flow alone for thee, I love thee still.

Forsake me if thou wilt; seek other's smiles,
Seek praise and flattery from the false and gay;
Seek joy from realms of revelry and mirth,
Whose fragrance wanes with each departing day,

That from thy heart my mem'ry if you will,
There softly breathes a hope, I love thee still.

Forget me if thou wilt, leave me alone,
Leave me to wander in this world of tears;
Leave me unloved, a child of blighted hopes,
Whose life has pass'd through weary months and years,

That bud of love its life thou canst not kill,
'Tis blooming yet; I sadly love thee still.
