FELLOW-CITIZENS,
BEING frequently solicited by a number of respectable Gentlemen to come forward as a Candidate to represent you in the General Assembly of this Commonwealth, this is therefore to inform you that I have at last got my own consent, not only to enlarge the field of your choice, but if elected, to serve you faithfully, according to my best judgment and ability.
I will add, fellow-citizens, that I have lived amongst you nearly thirteen years, and in the course of that time, I have been endeavoring to learn the political situation of our common country and have established for myself a place of residence in Berkeley County, where it is probable I may pass the balance of my days; it is therefore natural to suppose that my own interest, will lead me upon all occasions, to promote your welfare in general, as a body politic, of which body myself and family forms a part. I will further add that there may be a number of persons who vote for measures and not for men, that may wish to know my political sentiments; in order to give them that information, I do declare myself to be a real republican, a true friend to the constitution of the United States, and an approver of the present administration of the general government.
With sentiments of esteem,
I leave you to judge,
and chuse for yourselves.
JOEL WARD.
