A meeting of Detroit defense workers was called to lay plans for Defense City. The meeting included representatives of 25 Detroit locals of the UAW-CIO.
Defense City, a 10,000 unit project proposed by the UAW-CIO, is still in the project state at Washington. The Defense Housing Co-ordinator has refused to allocate the funds necessary.
This Detroit UAW-CIO Housing Committee has been formed to get the money. The meeting was called by Int. Ed. Director Richard Deverall, and was chaired by Otis Winn, housing consultant and architect for the UAW-CIO.
