MORTALITY AMONG CHILDREN.-The mortality among children in the city is again very distressing this year. The last returns of the Board of Health show that 344 persons died of diarrheal affections last week of whom 310 were children under two years old. Dirty streets, close rooms, bad milk and unripe fruit, are among the most active causes of this great mortality, but some share of it is undoubtedly due to the climate. Unluckily, at one or two of our sea-side resorts children do not stand a much better chance of retaining their health than in the city.--New York Times.
