A very active Chamber of Commerce met Tuesday noon with many interesting reports being given, showing progress along many lines.
It was announced that Rev. Reeves Havens will represent the Nome Chamber of Commerce at the all-Alaska meeting now in progress in Ketchikan.
A large group of travel agents is expected to arrive in Nome on June 8th for a couple of hours after an overnight stay at Kotzebue. Although their planned stay is disappointingly short, the Chamber plans to fill the time with some of the most interesting of the many tourist features in the vicinity.
New feature attractions, including a museum, were reported on by special committees, as well as an up-to-date tourist pamphlet.
Bill Barber was appointed to act with Chief of Police Carl Webb in a Youth Center project and the TV program in New York which has been offered with this as a feature. Other organizations including the city are appointing members to participate in this project as it is an opportunity which cannot be overlooked.
Dewey Goodrich asked Chamber action to assist the business houses in a request for a Friday Pan American trip instead of Saturday due to perishables which are needed.
Guests were Frank Molitor of the local accounting service. Richard Scott, Alaska Employment Security Commission employer representative; Chief of Police Webb; Dick Miller of Wien Alaska Airlines, new station manager; and Mr. Frezell of Fairbanks.
New members welcomed were Armin and Margaret Bohrer.
Vice President Carl Glavinovich was welcomed home.
