Full Text

Still Candidate.—By the following paragraph from the Washington letter of the Baltimore Democrat of this morning, it appears that our present Chief Magistrate is still in the field, notwithstanding the efforts of the Sentinel to rule him off the course:

It has been given out sundry times that the President of the United States is exceedingly anxious to be renominated. The various leakings out have been taken with more or less allowance, according to the fancy or the interest of parties, but the general impression is that he is "in" for the succession. The last bulletin informs us that certain Ohio delegates being in the city, he called upon them, and in the discussion of the momentous question, pledged himself that, in the event of his nomination and election, he would dismiss incontinently his present cabinet. That would, of course, carry the doctrine of rotation in office, and he would be "as good as new."
