A giant combined Co-op picnic and Diamond Jubilee celebration will be held at the Douglas County Fair Grounds, Alexandria, on Sunday, June 15, it was announced this month by John Ekdahl, chairman of the county's Co-op Council. Douglas County was organized 75 years ago on June 15, 1866.
Co-sponsors with the Co-op Council will be the Old Settlers Ass'n. of the county, of which Alfred Foslien is chairman.
Speakers of the day will include J. S. Montgomery, pioneer Minnesota cooperator, and Theodore Erickson. There will be many floats portraying the history of the county in a big parade.
The Alexandria high school band will play in the afternoon. Several thousand people are expected to attend.
