Event Details
A gentleman arrived in town from Carlisle, informs that the aristocratic junto of that place, are in the utmost astonishment at the rashness of their city colleagues in their ill-timed attack on the State Constitution, and that, lest the people should suspect they countenanced so obnoxious a measure, they are joining with the loudest opponents in reprobating it, and its authors. The same gentleman adds, that he found the same disposition prevailing in all the counties he passed through on his journey to Philadelphia, viz. in the counties of York, Dauphin, Lancaster, and Chester.
