CALDWELL LIBRARY NOTES

The newest recording in the library's collection is "Kiss Me Kate." The February report shows a total of 3226 books read with the schools accounting for 955. Adults read 1694 titles and juveniles read 577.

As the snow storms began to follow each other with such rapidity, patrons who could get to the library borrowed more books at one time than usual in order to tide them over the snowbound periods.

The largest daily circulation in February was 274. Attendance was 1184 and five new patrons were registered. There were 109 books catalogued and processed.

The audio-visual report shows circulation is as follows: Hi-Fi 4, film strips 28, recordings 38, 16 MM projectors 6, 8 MM 1 and 35 MM 2. Listeners and viewers were 111.

Librarians are often asked for help in locating facts about county history or histories of families. This month has been one of such requests. We are asked to check a list of books sent out by the library center in Barnesville. When finished the bibliography will help all libraries in Ohio.

A writer from Hillsboro asks that we assist him in finding information on the underground railroad in Noble county. He asks for pictures of people involved, names of families who helped and the routes followed.

Our latest request is from Ohioana library asking for information on specific names of persons born in Noble county, Ohio, who are or were writers.

The librarian will be glad to receive any information about the following persons. We shall use our county history but there may be other bits of information in the possession of citizens of Caldwell or the county.

William Alonzo Allen, born in Noble county, 1848; lived Montana, date of death? W. C. Archer, published poems in 1931. All data needed. Rob Roy McGregor Parrish, born 1846: poet. All other data needed. A. Wade Wells wrote Hail to the Jeep, 1946. Present address. Guy Carlton Williams, wrote Streets of Death, 1939. All data needed. Wilbertine Peters Worden, died 1944: born in Caldwell. Date of birth? Details needed: residence, etc.

Library hours are 10:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday and in addition 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. on Saturday evening.
