The Rising of the Parliament on Wednesday was carefully concealed from most People, and it is said that even the Chancellor did not know of it till late on Tuesday Evening. Some People think that the Ministry showed great Timidity on this Occasion, and others say it was only designed to disconcert the Schemes formed for celebrating the Enlargement of the Lord Mayor and Alderman Oliver from the Tower, and to prevent Riots and Confusion. However, it had not that Effect, as the whole City was illuminated, and the Mob committed many Outrages, by breaking Windows, &c.
