The New York World lays bare the corruptions of the New York Customhouse and Abolition loyalty in a manner that will open the eyes of the people, as follows:

It is to the desks of the Customhouse that the vigilant officer has gone who has unearthed these corruptions. It is to the private apartments of Collector Barney himself that he has tracked the scoundrel who paid liberally to serve their country in peaceful and honorable occupations, have been assisting the rebels with the means of endurance against the Government, with the power to cost and extort from the nation more of its treasure, and from our soldiers more of their blood. While an earnest and patriotic people were duped with the loud-mouthed bigotry and the political intolerance which passed for loyalty and patriotism a few months ago—while honest Democrats, whose hearts are in a war for the Union, were being so violently denounced as traitors for not approving a war of extermination and abolition—those Republican politicians were already laying down their plans for sending arms and supplies to the rebels. With one breath they dealt out damnation to Democrats and told the fools who listened to them of the rejoicings in Richmond over our political triumphs; the next breath was spent in arranging with 'Dear Benjamin' the price of a treachery to the nation's cause more dastardly than civil crimes which we punish by the State's prison for life—more traitorous than the worst offense of any soldier who in any of our armies has been court martialed and shot.
