New-York, May 25. Tuesday, May 19 (being the day appointed for the annual Commencement of the Graduates of King's College, in this City) a numerous and respectable audience, honoured by the presence of his Excellency Governor Tryon, and General Gage, assembled at Trinity Church.

After prayers, and an elegant Latin Oration by the Rev. Charles Inglis, A. M. Pres. P. T. the Salutatory Oration was delivered with great propriety of pronunciation, and gracefulness of gesture, by Mr. Ogden.

The audience was next agreeably entertained with a judicious comparison of modern and ancient learning, and an accurate estimate of the peculiar excellencies of each, by Mr. Bowden; whose elegant composition and animated delivery, did him much honour.

Mr. Skene, next, discovered much brilliancy of fancy and refined taste, in an English Oration on the beauties of poetry, pronounced with spirit, and recommended by the accuracy of his gesture.

A Forensic dispute then succeeded. Mr. Winterton supported the character of an Empiric, with much spirit and humour; and Mr. Muiron, in his reply, pointed out, in a striking light, the superior advantages of a regular application to the study of physic, and railed the pretensions of Empiricism with much wit and pleasantry.

Mr. King, next, gained much applause, by an animated Latin Oration, on the love of glory.

The bold Hypotheses of presumptuous Philosophers, and the ridiculous consequences of confidence and Dogmatism, in the different literary professions, were placed in a striking light, by Mr. Roebuck, in a humorous, ironical Panegyric on the happy effects of presumption and assurance; which, joined with the propriety of his delivery, occasioned much mirth, and met with the highest applause from the audience.

The degree of A. B. was then conferred on Messrs. Ogden, Skene, Bowden, Barclay, King and Roebuck. The following gentlemen, who gave singular marks of their improvement in medical knowledge, at their public examinations, were graduated Bachelors in Physic: James Muiron, Charles Doughty, A.M. William Winterton, John Augustus Graham, Uzal Johnson, Richard Udall,

Col. Edmond Fanning, Esq; A.M. of Yale College and of Cambridge, New-England, was admitted ad eundem.

Since our last arrived here from Philadelphia, a detachment of his Majesty's 21st regiment of foot or royal North British Fusiliers.
