A BIG MOVE.

A Purchase of Great Importance at Congress Lake.

Hotel to Be Built and Grounds Fitted Up On a Metropolitan Scale--Changes at Lake Park, Meyer's Lake.

From recent purchases at Congress Lake, and from information received from a reliable source, the News-Democrat can reliably inform the public that that resort will soon be put in the front rank with the summer watering places of the State. Congress Lake has always been popular with Cantonians, and residents along the Cleveland & Canton and it will now become popular to a larger number of people.

The recent purchase spoken of was that made by Mr. Lorenzo Crocker, a man of means of New Baltimore. He has been looking about Congress Lake for some time past and carefully examined into the chances of a good investment. He has finally come to a decision and has purchased seven acres of land with a frontage of three hundred feet along the railroad track, just opposite the Cleveland & Canton station. He has done this with a purpose and having a large amount of money for investment he states that upon this property he will erect a large summer hotel upon the most improved plan and place it under good management. The grounds will be fitted up in fine style and excellent driveways will be made throughout the seven acres to connect with the county roads. The trees will be trimmed and the swampy grass, where there is any, removed and walks laid out. It is the intention to put this property in the best possible condition and while this is being done on one side Charles Sliker, on the other, will not be asleep.

The change in the Cleveland & Canton from a narrow to standard gauge and its rapid extension south, its ultimate terminus being Wheeling, gives this matter greater importance. This will place Congress Lake on an important road, and when it is fitted up in the proposed metropolitan style it is not unlikely that the road will advertise it far and wide, these summer resorts on the line of the railroads of the country being great cards for the railroads.

In this connection the rumor of the Ft. Wayne running a switch to Meyer's Lake comes up. It cannot be told what ground there is for the rumor, probably not any. It is understood however, that when Mr. Reymann takes possession of his part of the lake he will endeavor to have some arrangement made to this effect, and let the Pennsylvania company advertise it as the summer resort on their line west of Pittsburg. Great improvements will be made at that place, one being the proposed building by Mr. Reymann of a large hotel at stone house point.
