Great Falls, Dec. 9--Today William Cluston, democratic candidate for the state senate, filed a contest against James Burlingame, Jr., republican, who has been declared elected by 55 votes. The grounds of contest are irregularities of judges of election, particularly that the judges did not tear off the numbered slip before depositing the ballot. The same contest has been started in Madison county by the republican candidate.

The legislature, which will elect a senator to succeed Thomas H. Carter, is involved in these contests.
