Little Symphony Orchestra Of 100 On Spring Tour
WAKE FOREST, N. C. May -- The Wake Forest Glee Club and Little Symphony Orchestra, comprising about 100 men and women members, will make their fine week-end tour of the spring season this weekend. The group will be heard in a concert at the New Hanover High School Auditorium in Wilmington tonight at 8 o'clock. A program of sacred music will be presented in the First Baptist Church in Wilmington on Sunday morning.
A women's sextet will present special Mother's Day selection titled "To My Mother" by W in the Sunday program. The sextet consists of Mary Lib Westbrook, Wilmington freshman, soprano; Evelyn Harrill, Ladale junior, first soprano; Berry Crouch, Valdese senior, second soprano; Martha Lou He, High Point freshman, second soprano; Miriam Morris, Sa sophomore, alto; and Max Cates, Mebane sophomore, alto.
A men's octet will also sing several numbers on the tour. The group consists of Tommy Staton, Mars Hill junior, first tenor; Kenneth Wilson, Mt. Olive junior, first tenor; Bill Herring, senior, second tenor; Herman day, Murfreesboro junior, second tenor; Jason Ross, Concord senior, baritone; David Freez, Raleigh senior, baritone; Lana Newton, Wake Forest bass; and Carlyle Morris, Marr junior, bass.
Prof. Thane McDonald, director of music at the college, will direct the programs on this tour. Lucy Rawlings, Conway junior, will be the accompanist.
