The Hartford Courant calls attention to a feature of the government of Vassar College:
They have one institution at Vassar College which might well be introduced elsewhere—a resident physician in constant attendance, whose business is the prevention of disease. The office is filled by a lady, and with the conscientiousness of her sex in such matters she does not permit it to be a sinecure. She keeps vigilant watch over the pupils. If she sees signs of over-work she orders that one study, or two perhaps, shall be dropped off. She daily inspects the table, orders this dish off and that one on, to be served daily and another not at all, and conforms the diet to some standard of health.
