Full Text

It affords us pleasure to acknowledge the reception of a number of the Louisiana "Staats Zeitung" a neat sheet published in New Orleans, in the German language. Though we do not understand the language, the Editor is not misunderstood. We find in the columns of the Staats Zeitung, the call to "Printers and Publishers" translated into the German Language. We know therefore, that the editor is a clever fellow, and we feel that we are acquainted with him. Let us all be united. What power is equal to the press? There is none. It is well called the "engine of public opinion." Any effort to improve—or elevate this mighty lever for good, should meet with the universal approbation of the whole profession.
