Changeable Fabrics In For "Teeners"

The Spring fabric picture is a bright one this year, particularly for the fashion-minded teen-ager and junior miss. Several new rayon fabrics are available as well as many interesting variations of old favorites.

The over-all fashion is for color and changeable colors, and rayon fabrics, both spun and filament, continue in their leading significance in all price ranges.

Rayon faille and rayon bengaline are important Spring fabrics, both for suits and coats. Iridescent failles, which maintain their soft, pliable texture but have the attractive two-color effect, are appearing in small quantities and are expected to be popular for Spring wear. Iridescent faille has a slightly more sophisticated air which pleases the young set.

Novelty Rayons
Novelty spun rayons provide many new fabrics for Spring wear. They range all the way from a soft, loose-weave fabric with a fuzzy texture, to linen-type finishes. Most spun rayons are ideally suited to sub-deb clothes, both casual and dressy, because they are usually washable. Spun rayons may look and feel like fabrics made from natural fibres, as well as appearing in many unique fabrics.

Rayon shantung, the "glamour girl" staple, is an outstanding fashion leader for Spring in junior clothes. It is being used in the typical rough textured shantung weave in solid colors and prints, as well as in fancy rayon jacquard shantungs.

There's an eye-catching addition to any sub-deb wardrobe in the iridescent rayon shantungs which are brand new and a sure bet for top fashion honors.

New Rayon Cords
Rayon corded fabrics, relative newcomers in fashion, are branching out into suits, tailored dresses, skirts, jackets and coats. They are noted for their firmness and good "hand", and long-wearing qualities.

Rayon tissue faille, which has become a fabric "classic", is perky and pretty in gay prints for Spring. Two-piece dresses in printed tissue faille are ideal for parties. Some printed tissue failles are also available moired for bouffant evening wear.

All in all, Miss Junior America has a wide selection of fabrics to choose from this year. The question, this Spring, is not what fabric she can find, as it was during the war years, but which of the many she will select.
