Washington, D. C.—Honored for his efforts to eliminate the poll tax. Rep. George H. Bender, Ohio at Large, is presented a testimonial plaque by Mrs. Mary McLeod Bethune, president of the National Council of Negro Women. The presentation was made at a recent dinner given by the National Committee to Abolish the Poll Tax. Participating in the ceremony is Mrs. Virginia Foster Durr, (right) vice chairman of the National Committee to Abolish the Poll Tax. Bender is the author of an anti-poll tax measure which will soon be debated on the House floor.
