The Opening of the Maryland Institute Fair.—The Baltimore papers announce that the annual fair of the Maryland Institute was opened on Monday night with stirring eclat, and all the promise of a successful season. The Sun states that the exhibition is not quite complete, but the whole scene is exceedingly striking and beautiful, viewed from any part of the spacious hall. An immense number of persons were present on the occasion, the ladies of course contributing freely to the grace, animation, and beauty of the picture. The fine band of the Independent Blues occupied the orchestra, and occasionally poured the rich variety of their choicest music down upon the admiring multitude. A hasty glance through the avenues of the exhibition was enjoyed by the visitors, and the opening was complete.

The number of depositors this year for competition is about 2,500, and the number for exhibition alone is 1,000 up to the present time. The opening address is to be made by the Hon. Caleb Cushing. He was present at the hall on Monday night, but, at his own request, the delivery of the address was deferred until next Monday night, when something excellent may be expected.
