According to Carl E. Rude chairman of the Gadsden County Chapter, American Red Cross, the Junior Red Cross enrollment drive has ended in the County schools.
A total of $453.74 was collected and all schools in the county were enrolled. The amount raised this year is the largest ever raised during an enrollment drive.
The names of the schools and the amounts contributed during the drive are as follows:
Quincy High School, J. A. Shanks, principal, $34.67; Quincy Elementary School, Edwin Shuler, principal, $37.07; Havana High School, J. H. Hyatt, principal, $33.93; Chattahoochee High School, Paul A. Coley, principal, $35.58; and George W. Munroe Elementary School, Robert E. Tudor, principal, $24.15.
Mt. Pleasant Elementary School, Ray G. Love, principal, $2.77; Greensboro High School, C. H. Richardson, principal, $15.43;
Carter-Parramore High School, Verdell D. Hamilton, principal, $99.27; and Stevens Elementary School, Witt A. Campbell, principal, $41.16.
Friendship Elementary School, Joseph Rosier, principal, $11.06; Salem Elementary School, Eldridge G. Brooks, principal, $18.85; Springfield Elementary School, Freddie L. Andrews, principal, $17.13.
Pine Park Elementary School, Julius Fisher, principal, $31.92; Midway Elementary School, Freddie D. Martin, principal, $9.00; St. John's Elementary School, William A. Grice, principal, $29.75; and Chattahoochee Elementary School, H. J. Smith, principal, $12.00.
All money received, except for a sum which pays for enrollment and a monthly magazine for each class room, is held in a service fund used to finance Junior Red Cross activities of students in local schools.
Rude said that it was only with the cooperation and assistance of the teachers and principals that the drive met with such tremendous success.
