FOOTBALL LEAGUE
MAKES 1959 PLANS

At a meeting of the MIDGET & PONY FOOTBALL league Tuesday December 10th, in the Parks & Recreation office, President Jim Nelson and league officials discussed Budget needs for the coming year. Treasurer Charles Odner completed his report and mentioned the teams equipment requirement that would be forthcoming. Chairman Kiernan Kelly of the Dance Committee reported that tickets are selling well for the MIDGET-FOOTBALL informal dance to be held January 23, at the Polish American Club. Mr. Kelly mentioned that all parents, coaches, friends and general public is invited to attend this function assisting and furthering football for the young men in Newington. Pres. Nelson stated that since its inception in 1957 the Newington Football league has helped about 150 boys to enjoy the benefit of America's most exciting game in a safe, well coached and supervised fashion, and that through this program all who participated, coaches, managers, cheerleaders, woman's auxiliary, musicians, league officials and sports fans have gained a great amount of pleasure and entertainment from being a part of Newington's Football Picture. Mr. Nelson extended his thanks to all the aforementioned. Pres. Nelson completed his report of 1958 by appointing Duke Torgen chairman of Finance and Purchasing Committee and Corner chairman Tom Purtell next field Official.
