Look for Missing Girl And Assailant
Wausau, Wis., July 16. -Another ax mystery has shocked this section and has aroused the people.
On Sunday night a mysterious assailant appeared at the home of Mrs. Walter Lowando. She and her daughter were asleep together and were alone in the house. Mrs. Lowando was attacked and dangerously hurt by her assailant who used an axe.
She and her daughter screamed and attracted the attention of the neighbors. Shortly afterward the sheriff arrived and he was told by neighbors that they had earlier in the evening seen an unknown man lurking about the house.
Shortly after the assault the daughter, Miss Mary Lowando, aged 20, disappeared from her home, adding to the mystery.
A large posse was assembled and the men, aided by a pack of bloodhounds and an airplane, are sweeping every acre of the vast swamp adjoining here in the search of the daughter and the mysterious man today.
