Three Successive Shocks, and the Cage Pit on Fire.
Halifax, December 14.—Another explosion at Cage pit, Stellarton, occurred this morning about 8 o'clock, followed in a few minutes by a second blast. A strong force of men are on hand to explore and ascertain the damage done at the earliest possible moment. About 9 o'clock a third explosion occurred. It is not believed any lives were lost, as no miners were known to be in the pit, work not having been begun since the last explosion in Ford pit. No one has yet been into the mine to ascertain the extent of damage, the afterdamp having been too strong to allow of an exploration.
