PHILADELPHIA, July 3.

Extract of a letter from South Carolina, May 11.

"General Wayne lies at Ebenezer, 20 miles from Savannah. He expects to be reinforced this week with 200 men, after which it is said he will make an attempt upon their works. There is a great probability of his succeeding, as the Hessian troops at that post have been twice disarmed for attempting to march off in a body.

The desertions from the enemy at Charlestown, average 20 men per week. There has been one instance of two officers and 20 men (refugees) coming out in a body with their arms, &c."
