ATLANTA, Ga.—The week of November 4 through 9 has been set aside by official proclamation of Gov. Marvin Griffin as the fourth annual Teen-Age Traffic Safety Week in Georgia.
The special safety week is a project of the Georgia Teen-Age Traffic Safety Assn., which was organized as an outgrowth of the first Governor's Teen-Age Traffic Safety Conference in 1953. The week's goal: "No Traffic Accidents or Deaths."
As the adult guiding agency for the youth association, the Georgia Department of Public Safety is giving full cooperation and active support in helping the teen-agers promote the program, according to Col. W. C. (Peck) Dominy, Safety Department director.
The State Patrol's Safety Education Division, under the supervision of Capt. Eugene Thomas, already is making important contacts over the state in behalf of the youth organization's program.
The teen-age association, itself, also is writing letters to all high school principals, civic groups and other youth organizations urging them to promote the program at the community level. Grady Jackson, Jr., of Jackson, Ga., is president of the GTTSA.
In his proclamation, Gov. Griffin called on all Georgians to join with Georgia high school students in the active promotion of this Traffic Safety Week, rendering to them all possible assistance, encouragement, understanding and cooperation as they strive to promote safe driving and walking, and thus help them attain their ultimate goal of "No Traffic Accidents or Deaths during the entire week."
