Full Text

Our reporter approached a stranger Wednesday last, and the following dialogue ensued:

Reporter - 'Hello, stranger, may I be allowed to ask where you are from?'
Stranger - 'I am from every place except Topeka.'
Reporter - 'I am aware of that fact, said our reporter, but what I want to know is, from what part of the South do you hail?'
Stranger - 'I did not hail from the South. I came out here on the cars at the earnest solicitation of several persons who are not here.'
Reporter - 'Where were you born?'
Stranger - 'I was born at home.'
Reporter - 'Where is your home?'
Stranger - 'Topeka is my home - now.'
Reporter - 'You appear to be an Alec.'
Stranger - 'Yes; I'll make you think I'm an Alec.'

Tableau.

Here the curtain fell, and our young man moved off, swearing he would interview nobody else.
