DEFUNCT BANK OF CHARITON WILL PAY 25 PER CENT DIVIDENDS.

Chariton, Oct. 29.--(Special)--The depositors of the defunct First National bank will receive a dividend of 25 per cent about Nov. 12. The preferred claim of the Modern Woodmen of America for $350,000 has been disposed of. This claim is now classed as general and will be pro-rated with other claims in the disbursement of the bank funds. An agreement has been entered into between the Modern Woodmen and Receiver Jamison, whereby the claim of the order against the receiver and the assets of the bank will be allowed as a general claim. In consideration of this the Modern Woodmen shall cancel and surrender any bond or bonds given to it or its head banker, C. H. McNider, by said First National bank, and the Woodmen shall also release and dismiss any and all claims it may have, or claims to have, for any preference against or on the assets of said bank.

The sureties on the cost bond in the case of the Modern Woodmen of America vs. J. H. Jamison, receiver of the First National bank of Chariton, Iowa, et al now pending in the circuit court of the United States in and for the southern district of Iowa, have consented to the settlement of said case on the above terms and conditions. Thirteen other preferred cases have been tried in one bunch before Judge Smith McPherson, of Creston, who will hand down his decision on November 4.
