A member of the Illinois House of Representatives has introduced a bill to protect the people from the raids of quacks that set up their "shingles" as medical practitioners all over the State. The bill requires that all men who are to follow the medical profession shall be graduates of some medical college, and be the possessor of a certificate of a good moral character therefrom, or to have a certificate of qualifications from some medical society. All druggists are to be graduates of some school of medicine or pharmacy, or have a certificate of qualifications from some society of regular physicians or pharmaceutists. All prescriptions, as far as practicable, are to be written in plain English. Owners of patent medicines are required to file with the county clerk of the county, where such medicines are offered for sale, a list of their several ingredients in their medicines; verified by affidavits.
