I saw the King yesterday, setting out on a ride in the new Royal coach, with eight horses, new liveries, and a glittering escort of cavalry; his countenance bright, his health to all appearance sound. Within the week past I have seen all the members of the Royal family now in the capital; the Queen alone has a face of care; the Duchess of Montpensier is handsome in the Spanish style - keen laughing eye - a general exterior of vivacity and enjoyment - her toilette admirable. O'Connell has left the Rue de Rivoli for Italy. He passed three days here. A consultation of British and French physicians pronounced that no organic disease is to be discovered - yet, he is a wreck; he labors under the profoundest depression of spirits - the worst heaviness of soul - he has not wasted in body, but he moves as if exceedingly feeble: his eyes are glazed - his accents difficult and broken. This account of him comes to me from a gentleman who passed hours with him each day; access to him was refused to most of the persons who called to pay respects or gratify curiosity. - Cour. & Enq.
