Effective today, John M. Turnbull, has been promoted to special clerk at the Ironton post office, which promotion carries with it an increase in pay of $100 a year. Mr. Turnbull is in charge of the registry division at the local office, and the promotion is a recognition of his faithful services over a period of years. The honor of special clerk has only once before been conferred upon an employee of the Ironton office, Miss Nell Barker, who retired in May, 1935, having thus been honored.
Mr. Turnbull was appointed clerk at the post office on July 1st, 1907, and will have completed his 29th year in the postal service today. His appointment was under the late Postmaster John M. Strobel.
