J. W. Ziegler was down from Antler Monday.

Col. A. Berthiaume went to Rolla on business Monday.

H. A. Batie returned Friday from a business trip to Iowa.

Mr. and Mrs. George Clark went to Antler Monday to visit their daughter.

R. A. McBrayne of Maxbass was a Bottineau business visitor the first of the week.

D. A. Ferguson and C. N. Morwood were down from Westhope Monday on business.

David Jones left Tuesday for Aberdeen, South Dakota, where he will purchase a number of horses.

Geo. T. Larson left Monday for Minneapolis, after spending several days in Bottineau attending court.

Roy H. Cook of the News succeeds John P. Simon as deputy clerk of court. He took up his new work Friday.

Miss Clara Kirk, who has been visiting her brother, Judge John H. Kirk, leaves tomorrow for her home at Niagara.

Miss Emma Peterson returned from the cities Tuesday and is again in charge of the millinery department of the Patron's Exchange.

Dr. C. L. Johnson of this city has a well-written article on Osteopathy in the March number of the Journal of Osteopathy, published at Kirksville, Missouri.

P. E. Christenson, county superintendent, and Geo. H. Capes, chairman of the board of county commissioners, were at Westhope the first of the week on school loan business.

Souris Messenger: Miss Celia Christenson went to Bottineau to attend the wedding of her brother, Siger Christenson and Miss Hanna Lagerquist which occurred at the home of Rev. Nelson near Kelvin on Wednesday.

D. H. McArthur went to Grand Forks Monday.

Mrs. H. A. Batie visited relatives at Omemee Friday.

E. D. Bower spent Sunday with his parents at Westhope.

Miss Mabel Thorburn spent Sunday at the home of her parents at Souris.

Mrs. H. T. Silvester of Willow City visited her daughter, Mrs. I. R. Barkway, last week.

J. P. Nelson returned home Friday and left again Monday on a business trip to Minneapolis.

John McCaughna left Tuesday on a trip to Lethbridge on business for the Great West Land company.

C. G. Gorder and G. K. Vikan left Tuesday for Crookston, Minnesota, where they expect to purchase a carload of horses.

The Nelson-Thomas Lumber company of this city has purchased the yard of the Farmers' Lumber company at Wolford. Possession was taken by the new owners Monday.

Ward, the five-months-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Ed Ferguson, died Saturday after a short illness with diphtheria. The remains were interred in Oak Creek cemetery. The bereaved ones have the sympathy of many friends.

The meeting of the school officers of the county to be held at Omemee tomorrow (Saturday) promises to be one of interest and should be well attended. Richard Heyward, state inspector of high schools, is expected to be present and deliver an address.

Omemee Herald: James Butcher left this morning for Sioux Falls, South Dakota, where he will visit relatives a few weeks. From there he will go to Hot Springs, Arkansas, for the benefit of his health. Jim's friends sincerely hope that he may be permanently cured.

R. A. Parker, H. O. Sheldon, Gus Trader and Chris Hansen of this city and Geo. H. Capes of Omemee were at Antler Tuesday night to assist in the institution of an encampment of Odd Fellows. The new lodge will be known as Refuge encampment No. 28, I. O. O. F., and has a charter membership of thirty-six. H. J. Rowe of Casselton, grand scribe, was the installing officer.

Judge John H. Kirk performed two marriage ceremonies in county court chambers Wednesday. The couples united in the bonds of matrimony were Martin Elvrom and Miss Violet Woods of Maxbass, and Charles Thompson and Miss Ida Anderson of Landa.

Martin Elvrom is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Thos. Elvrom and is a former Bottineau boy.

John O. Helgerson was down from Westhope Tuesday.

Rev. Jno. P. Davis returned home Saturday from a trip to Fargo and Chicago.

Mr. and Mrs. J. P. Neelands left yesterday for Minot where they will make their home.

George B. Kirk of Niagara visited at the home of his son, Judge John H. Kirk, last week.

Mr. and Mrs. John F. Haskett returned to Souris after a visit at the Haskett home south of the city.

Miss Francis Scheer returned Monday from Chicago and is in charge of T. F. Woods' millinery department.

Applications for school fund loans in the amount of $12,500 have been filed with the county auditor within the last few days.

Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Halverson of Rugby were in Bottineau the first of the week, the first named on business the latter to visit friends.

Miss Ingclev Glomseth, sister of Commissioner L. J. Glomseth, underwent an operation at the Johnson hospital in this city yesterday.

Misses Mereb Warner and Rena Fleming were at Rugby yesterday to meet Miss Edna Brown who came from Forest City to visit her sister Aurie brother Ed of this city.

Mr. and Mrs. John P. Simon left Saturday for Grand Forks where they will visit relatives for two weeks. Mr. Simon will assume his duties as county auditor upon his return.

County Treasurer H. C. Harty has received a draft from the state auditor for $147,493.11, being the receipts of the school land sale held in December. The money has been in the county treasury since the sale.

Omemee Herald: Banker C. S. Fairfield of Gardena was in town today. He informed the Herald that he and his brother R. H. have purchased a 45-horse power gasoline engine which they intend to use in breaking the section of school land they bought last fall.

Thos. Sims, John H. G. Turner, M. Hawker, Emil Johnsgaard and F. A. H. Smith were at Westhope Thursday night of last week to attend a Masonic meeting. Three candidates were raised to the third degree, a lodge composed of pastmasters doing the work.

Marriage licenses have been issued as follows: Edward F. Bahr and Miss Louise Mantley both of Kramer; George F. Wilkinson of Benson, Saskatchewan, and Petterine O. Strindmo; Martin Elvrom and Miss Violet Woods, both of Maxbass; Charles Thompson and Miss Ida Anderson, both of Landa.

The city election will be held Monday, April 5. Mayor, treasurer, city justice, police magistrate and aldermen in each of three wards of the city will be elected. The aldermen whose terms expire are C. W. Beyer in the first, C. W. Fielder in the second and H. C. Dana in the third.

E. L. Garden has been elected president of the Souris commercial club. C. A. Kirkeby is vice president and Henry W. Peterson, secretary and treasurer. These officers, with L. O. Tollefson and Ray Miller, compose the board of directors. The membership fee was fixed at $10.

The Farmers' Telephone company of Souris is planning a number of extensions this year. An exchange will be built at Landa. The following officers and directors were elected at the annual meeting: President, Jacob Gorder; vice president, Ole Ramstad; secretary, Nels Magnuson; treasurer, L. O. Tollefson; directors, Nels Magnuson, Souris; Jacob Gorder, Bottineau; Chas. Gorder, Bottineau, C. L. Larson, Kramer; Max Garbe, Kramer; Ole Ramstad, Landa; A. Billehus, Roth; L. O. Tollefson, Souris.
F. J. Diment had business at Souris Monday night.
