Eisenhower was asked for com-

to put over until the next session,
when they will control Congress,
Senate consideration of any po-
tentially controversial appointees.
One of the nominations delayed
is that of John Marshall Harlan
to be a Supreme Court justice.

prompted the Supreme Court on
Monday to postpone its scheduled
arguments next month on how to
put into effect its decision striking
down public school segregation.
