The Earl of Uxbridge, highly to his honor, is now building, at a private yard in the Thames, a ship of about 150 tons burthen, for the purpose of training up twenty young Welchmen in maritime knowledge, so as to qualify them for Midshipmen on board the King's ships. This vessel, which is to cruize in the British Channel, it is said, will cost the noble Earl five or six thousand pounds in the first instance, and not less than so many hundred per annum to support his laudable and praise worthy intention after.
