Tennyson in Westminster.

On Wednesday last Westminster Abbey witnessed that which will remain in the memory of those present as long as life lasts. In the presence of a congregation comprising many of the most eminent of living Englishmen, the body of the greatest poet of the English speaking race since Shakespeare was reverently laid to rest. Tennyson's grave is next to that of Robert Browning in the Poet's Corner of the historic Abbey. It is pleasant to Americans to know that the aged poet in his last days made an especial request that an American should be among pallbearers. The Hon. Robert T. Lincoln, our Minister to Great Britain, was unable to accept the invitation given to him to act in that capacity; but the United States was represented among the official bearers by Mr. Henry White, the Secretary of the American Legation.
