Meager details so far received regarding the affair are to the effect that Nellie Kalugan, a young native woman was killed, and an attempt made to burn the body.
The charred remains and evidence showing the details of the crime were found the next morning by the natives.
The identity of the murderer has not yet been learned, and as there is at present no marshal in the precinct, no steps have been taken toward apprehending the guilty one.
The murdered woman was a one-armed native, about 28 years old. She was well known around Unga.
Twenty fishermen are employed during the winter at Pirate Cove, and it is believed that one or more of them were guilty of the crime.
