Full Text

Professor Oliver J. Lodge, of the British association, has a long tail of honorable initials to his name. He made a speech in the mathematical and physical science section of the association that is remarkable in some respects.

He spoke of thought transference, so called, and said of it, "It may be an indication of a higher mode of communication which shall survive our temporary connection with ordinary matter." He exhorted with the utmost earnestness the trained men before him and those elsewhere to take up seriously and scientifically the investigation of thought transference and the kindred subjects denominated in the language of the time "occult." He declared there might be here the realization of a grander truth than any science had dreamed of, and whether there was or not, the time had come when scientific men in the B. A. should investigate these things, and not leave them to outsiders.
