Oyster Shuckers on a Strike.

About thirty oyster shuckers employed in the oyster packing house of J. Russell & Co., here, quit work yesterday, because of a reduction from twenty to fifteen cents per gallon for shucking. About twenty-five shuckers continued at the reduced prices.

There has been no reduction in any of the other houses as far as we have been able to learn. The shuckers claim that while the packers greatly increase the prices of oysters during the freeze, and that oysters are much more difficult for the shuckers to handle, they get no more for shucking, and will oppose any reduction in the price for shucking.
